Could anyone tell me what the star under our name means? Does it just mean that we are online? If so, I feel dumb lol

No, the star below the name is your reputation. As you increase your posts you will get more stars (its an automatic system).

You can see whether users are online or offline by the suername (to the right).

Do you like it or would you rather have another system for reputation?

I think it's a great idea! I do see one problem that could arise from it however. As new people come into the forum, they may take more of what someone who has 5 stars says over someone who has 3 stars; even though the person with 3 may have just as good of ideas. What do you think? In all, I like the idea.
